People keep buying products. But all you need is paper and something to write one. Sure, for this I used 4″ x 6″ cards with pre-printed grids. But, I didn’t really need those. Just a pencil and paper would have done.

If you are struggling to come up with a campaign map or dungeons. Here’s a little toolkit. Set the scale you want. I think thirty-mile hexes might be a little far. I think ten-mile hexes might be about right. Or, twenty, it’s up to you. In any case, one can get years of play right here. Maybe a lifetime’s worth.

You’ll need to name things. And figure out what that hermit is up to. Remember, random encounters can populate it more. No doubt if you are playing AD&D, villages of goblins, ogre lairs, etc. can be fit in all the nooks and crannies. What might come out of that adjacent desert hex?

As to dungeons, we have a deserted friary, a ruined tomb, and a deserted castle with a known monster. That’s three right there. Below is an infinite dungeon. Cut along the dotted lines and lay them out. Determine what in those rooms. I can’t do it all for you. What more do you want than more gaming than you can do for the rest of your life? What am I going to do with the rest of my stack of blank cards?

Note: the campaign map was just rolled randomly from the AD&D 1e Dungeon Masters Guide, p. 173. Yes, the DMG has all you need. It’s that easy. You can do it too. Now, go!
