Well, is it? Jeffro and BDubs thinks so. And, that’s good enough for me. Go read their columns on the subject first, then come back.

So, Jeffro made the world, Moonshine (C 8793016). It’s a near water world with limited land area, a nature preserve, small population (2,449 people), and eight major Baronial estates. The eight baronies dominate society on Moonshine.

Jeffro gives more detail on the Barons.

BDubs has a retired Colonel who is out to make a reputation for himself.

So what can I bring to the table. Well, I rolled up a stable of Traveller characters. I rolled six because that’s what could fit across the page. Three survived. As usual in Traveller characters can die during creation. The other half survived.

So what do I have and what can I make of them. I have a Navy Lt. (Retired) of high-ish social standing, Age 38. I have a mustered out army captain, Age 30, with a certain level of skills, and I have a retired marine lieutenant, Age 42, who is something of a bruiser. What to make of it?

Obviously, they all know one another. The Navy Lt and Marine Lt clearly must have worked together, and given their separation in social standing, the marine now works for the navy man. And the Army Captain. He’s not retired and has no pension. So, no doubt he’s a related branch contact of the marine and been hired as additional muscle.

And, our knight, who is he? Ulysses McQuade, younger brother of Baron #3 above, who has recently returned home. He’s in line to inherit the barony, though unlikely to if his brother has any children. He’s newly retired from the Navy and returning home for some peace and quiet. Maybe get married, do a little farming on the estate. In fact, one of those Baronesses may be unattached. Little does he know of the unrest being brought by crazed vigilantes and ambitious sociopath Colonels. All he knows is he’d like his peaceful little backwater to stay peaceful. He has little compunction in using his friends to help keep it that way.
